Installation Service

With the increased amount of time spent indoors, people realize there are items in their home or business that need to be replaced. Finding the perfect item isn't the only headache you'll run into. Getting the old items out and the new piece in is half the journey. If the installation isn't done right, you could end up with leaks, locks that unhinge, pieces falling from the ceiling, or worse. No matter how small the job may seem, it would be best not to do these things yourself.

Doorknobs and locks now come in many different styles and materials. You can go to a hardware store and be back home with a new lock in minutes, but getting it installed properly is a whole other ballgame. If you do it wrong, you leave your home vulnerable to the very things you were hoping to keep out. Proper installation requires precise measurements, re-structuring existing holes, and a keen eye to match the current style. While changing out the doorknob, a good handyman will also inspect the doorframe, threshold, and weather stripping and replace the individual pieces or the entire door if necessary.

It may be easy to find a panel to replace a broken window but getting it fitted in a way that looks smooth and unnoticeable takes an expert. If you try to do it yourself, you may end up with windows that don't open properly, and that will be the least of your worries. Gaps from an improperly sealed window could allow in dirt, debris, and pests. Air leakage can dramatically increase your utility bill and let in moisture, which can lead to mold growth and damage your building's structural integrity.

Some often attempted DIY projects seem to be easy enough - that is, until the first spark of electricity happens. Installing a new ceiling fan or chandelier is the last part of the process. Removing it should be done by an expert to avoid damaging your ceilings, flooring, or causing injury. Red, white, blue, green, and black wires can be pretty confusing to the average homeowner.

For appliances, the rules stay the same. Replacing garbage disposals means dealing with electric wiring and working in a tight space. Improperly installing one of these can lead to unnoticed water leakage. A dishwasher or oven may require some modifications to your kitchen to allow for a new sized machine. Things aren't always as simple as plugging the machine in and sliding it right into the spot. An improperly installed dishwasher can send water spewing out and flood your home. Ovens that aren't hooked up or sized correctly can pose a potential fire risk. Many of today's appliances require independent or specialized electrical outlets.
